LPQ Alive and Well
Recent events in the English literacy community in Quebec have changed the funding structures for LPQ for the present time.

Following a year of discussion, the literacy umbrella groups are at an impasse on a few issues. Until such time as these issues can be resolved, the NLS has announced that it will not fund any one organization as the coalition in Quebec.

LPQ, however, remains very much alive and still committed to serving literacy groups in the English community. We continue to operate with plans for an active, productive future. We remain confident and hopeful that the current impasse will be resolved in the coming year.

To borrow from Jonathan Swift:
Reports of our demise are greatly exaggerated....

CBC- Canada Post Flight for Freedom Award
Literacy Partners of Quebec is very pleased to announce that CBC English Services for Quebec which includes Radio, Television and Communication services was awarded a Canada Post Flight for Freedom Literacy award in the Corporate Canada category.

LPQ nominated CBC Quebec for its consistent leadership and impact on literacy within the English community. CBC has worked closely with LPQ over the past four years as media sponsor for the annual Golf Day for Literacy, producing and airing public service announcements and providing local personalities for this event.

As the only English language media outlet to actively advocate on behalf of literacy, CBC Quebec has shown long-term and innovative support. Newswatch's Dennis Trudeau's energy, enthusiasm and involvement in literacy activities have made him synonymous with the cause.

CBC Quebec has worked to help increase awareness of the issue through specific coverage on Newswatch, by creating and producing literacy messages for television and providing substantial free air time for these messages during peak viewing periods.

LPQ is proud to be associated with CBC Quebec and the people who make things happen there.
