Editor's note: Congratulations to Deborah Morgan for her
recent Canada Post Educator's Award! It's clear from what Alice has written
that her work and presence in others' lives has had a meaningful and positive
effect.
Deborah, may you continue to reach and inspire others with this model of
"fearless writing" and in your future pursuits.

Federal Election!
There will be a federal election on November 27th,
2000.
Federal elections give us a chance to choose members of Parliament (MPs) to
represent us in Ottawa.
- Make sure you can vote.
You can vote if you are a Canadian citizen, and at least 18 years old on
election day. Your name must also be on the voters list.
If your name is already on the voters list, you should receive a voter
information card in the mail. If you do not receive a card, or if the card
has the wrong name or address, call Elections Canada at 1 800 463-6868. They
will tell you what to do.
- Elections Canada has made a special effort to reach out to
learners.
They have worked with MCL to make sure that easy-to-read information about
voting gets out to literacy programs. If your program has not received a
special package from Elections Canada, you or your teacher can find the
information on MCL's website at www.literacy.ca
Are you ready to vote? It's your future!
