Literacy Action Day (LAD) 1998

MCL has begun to plan for next year's LAD, along with ABC CANADA, Frontier College, La Fédération pour l'alphabétisation en français (FCAF), Laubach Literacy of Canada, and the National Adult Literacy Database (NALD).

The date will be February 19.

The idea this year is to base LAD on an appeal from the literacy community in each province and territory to the MPs and Senators who represent them in Ottawa.

Each provincial/territorial "team" will identify the literacy issues and/or opportunities important to their communities, and the politicians it makes sense to meet with. Teams may decide to bring a standard message to all their provincial/territorial politicians, or might bring specific local messages to selected representatives. Discussions will focus on practical things that can be done to promote literacy.
