Guide (1999) A guide designed as a general introduction to family literacy
for a variety of audiences. Includes general information, descriptions of
program models, handouts for parents, background research, and contact
information. Volunteer Management Resource Guide For
Literacy Programs (1997) Volunteer management is a key component of community-based
literacy programs. There were 9,600 volunteers in Anglophone community-based
literacy programs in Ontario in 1995-1996. These volunteers were managed by a
total of 344 paid staff. Program leaders need the skills and tools to
effectively manage volunteers in todays rapidly changing environment.
The Annual Review of Adult Learning and
Literacy (1999) Provides the first annual compilation of the fields major
issues, current research and practice advances. THRASS Resource File (1998)
THRASS (Teaching Handwriting Reading And Spelling Skills) is a
program for teaching adults and children about the building blocks of reading
and spelling and the graphemes (spelling choices) of written English. Contains
a Teachers Manual, Audio Tape, photocopiable skills sections and a
detailed Assessment Section. Intake Assessment Materials
(1999) Provides fundamental level (0-grade 8) instructors and adult
students with a personal, friendly and relaxed procedure for discussing a
students educational experiences and goals. Assessments can be used to
determine a students instructional reading level, writing strengths and

The CMLC Integrated Curriculum

Information (1999) Helps health professionals locate excellent examples of plain
language health information on a variety of subjects. A list of 375 titles from
50 organizations is presented. Appendices provide basic plain language and
clear design tips. Destination Literacy : A Resource Tool
for All (1999) A useful, easy-to-follow resource, a compilation of material
designed to help identify and teach adult learners who may have learning
disabilities. Clear layout consisting of definitions, informal assessments,

and Education (1999) A publication which rethinks conceptualizations of violence in
society and connections between violence and learning and interweaves a wealth
of practical ideas, possibilities, thoughts about what practitioners might do
differently in classrooms and educational institutions if we begin to think
differently about violence. Health Promotion for Adult Literacy
Students: An Empowering Approach (1997) A multi-technology curriculum designed for the adult education
classroom. An initiative focusing on health promotion and disease
prevention,recognizing that a persons state of well being directly
affects the ability to work, learn, and have a productive life. Package
