English as a second language for literacy learners

This document represents a major development in the delivery of English as a Second Language (ESL) training to adult newcomers to Canada. The two working documents contained within this volume combine to offer the English as a Second Language Community ac across Canada a basis for describing the language skills of adult clients. There are three types of benchmarks and each describes ability within a specific area of language skill or combination of skills. Skill areas include: listening/speaking, reading and writing.

Tutor Tips: An Introduction to Literacy Tutoring
