| Literacy is a local, national and worldwide concern, While there
is a considerable literacy activity occurring in different parts of
Canada, there is not a national literacy body to bring together all
literacy educators who address common literacy goals and challenges.
The Canadian
Association of Literacy Educators (CALE) has grown out of a need
for literacy educators in Canada to become part of a national body
focussing on literacy.
The Canadian
Association of Literacy Educators (CALE) is a national
organization that facilitates communication and professional
development among literacy educators in Canada, and supports the
literacy experiences of all learners. The framework of this
organization includes; a Listserv - CALE (Canada Interact) through
which Canadian and Literacy educators can share and interact with each
other on literacy issues in Canada; Plans and Problems Forum, intended
for researchers (including graduate students) who wish feedback on any
stage of their research; Peer Review, which will assist with peer
feedback on manuscripts intended for publication in a referred
journal; and Director's Direct, available only to the Directors of the
Association.
Also presented through CALE is the Canadian Journal of Literacy
Educators (CJLE). This is an on-line journal which will be issued 4
times a year. Contributions from all are appreciated! To request more
