New Words, New Worlds - Stories and Poems by and for New Readers (1996)

A four-volume set of books, with 15 stories and poems written by students of Winnipeg Volunteer Reading Aides. Illustrations comprise at least half of each page. As well as enhancing the stories, they can be used to enable the reader to predict narrative events, and to provide contextual clues to word recognition and meaning, etc.

Literacy Development Booklets (1997)

Ability Employment Corporation

Two booklets for literacy development - one written by Paul Strong, and the other written by Charlene Butt. The booklets are plain language, level one readers. Both Paul and Charlene are individuals with developmental disabilities, who with help, have written these books.

Great Canadians

Written by literacy students, this book describes the life of some Alberta celebrities, including Senator Joyce Fairbairn, Grant MacEwan, and Cody Snyder. The publication is loaded with lots of great pictures as well.
