Collection of Aboriginal Writings (2002) Two volumes that are collections of
stories, poems and songs written by aboriginal Canadians. In each volume,
writers explore a range of topics - tales of where they were born, their first
jobs, and stories of successful and not so successful hunting trips. These
glimpses of who we are invite readers to explore a rich array of aboriginal
experiences. Thematic Review on Adult
Learning : Reviews the adequacy of learning
opportunities for adults, and assesses the participation and access to learning
by adults. Also aims to identify analyses and data needed to ensure an informed
public debate on adult learning. Examines the premise that there is too little
adult training in Canada, and examines available studies on the cost
effectiveness of training programs directed at the unemployed and
disadvantaged. Circle Time ! The Pre-school
Reading Circle Handbook (2002) A handbook that is a clearly
written guide to assist any group planning to set up a Reading Circle for
pre-school children. Also useful for any parent, volunteer or childcare
provider working with pre-school children. From a simple and very effective
program developed at Frontier College. So You Want To Start A Reading
Circle, A terrific training tool for any
group who wants to organize this literacy program. Also a great orientation for
new participants. Provides a tour of six different kinds of Reading Circle
programs, including a program for pre-school children. Also includes a 14-page
Reading Circle Handbook. Networking with Organizations
Serving Persons with Special Needs (2002) Identifies community services and
best practices but also gaps in service, and looks at ways to potentially
bridge the gaps. Provides information that will be useful to service providers,
community partners, and funders. The Story of the Seven Fires,
Video and Teachers Manual (2002) The author, an Aboriginal educator,
presents a historical perspective on the evolution of relationships between the
Aboriginal and the non-Aboriginal communities. Includes a video of Sallys
live presentation and a Teachers Manual meant to enhance the
listeners self-reflective learning process. Final Report - Comprehensive
Training Needs Assessment for Literacy in New Brunswick (2002)
Assesses the comprehensive training
needs for literacy in New Brunswick. The literacy sector in NB relies to a high
degree on all community and volunteer sectors in all regions of the province,
and does so in both official languages. Report puts forth 24 recommendations
that outline a comprehensive action plan for establishing and acting on a
commitment to a provincial strategy for literacy.
