February is here. We sure can't complain about the weather this winter. It has not been as cold as other winters. I noticed that the days are getting a little longer too, and that is a positive thing. It won't be long until that snow starts to melt.

In the meantime, things are just buzzing in this building. There are a lot of classes and workshops going on. We have an above average number of students working on getting their grade 12 diploma.

Job Readiness students are all out on placements now. They are enjoying that and learning a lot of new things. It was hard letting go of them. They grow so quickly.

This is a busy time for us all as it is also the month for the Coffee House. Plans are well underway with the students all busy helping.

We have a lot of extra classes going on, Intro to Computer, Excel, Microsoft Word, and we also have an Art class taking place on Thursday afternoons.

We are always looking to do new things so anything you are interested in, give us a call and we will see if we can make it happen.

Writer's Corner

man cooking over campfire imageA few years ago, my sister and her husband, Jim, both busy professionals with little inclination to cook, decided to renovate their kitchen. So it wasn't a surprise when one day Jim called asking for advice on how to use his new stove. “Quick, my food is burning!” He said urgently. “How do you open the child-proof lock?” “Jim, your oven doesn't have a child-proof lock.” I said. In the grim silence that followed, we both realized he'd secured the self-clean latch. Two hours later his food came out of the oven somewhat overdone, having been cooked at 9000 F.

Intro to Computers

This class is up and running. We had so many people interested that the class was split. “Double your pleasure; double your fun." This is such an exciting class; everyone is having fun. It is geared to people that don 't know anything about computers. Good work, folks.
