Spring is here!

Finally, what we have been waiting for through those long cold months. What a wonderful time of year. We have had a very industrious winter though. There has been such an increase in students this winter. It has been good to see everybody taking such an interest in furthering their education.

"Knowledge is power," they say. Well a lot of people are taking that to heart this year. New computer classes have begun, the Coffee House was a huge success, and we have a new week of workshops coming up called “Refresh and Renew”. This will help us bounce into spring.

Soon the birds will be back and things will start to bloom and turn green and studying will become a little more difficult. But it won’t be long until summer holidays.

Story Time Tips

One of the best ways to encourage a love of reading is to have regular times each day for sharing books with your children.

Each time you open a book with children you take them on an exciting journey. Open a new world in books and give your children a great start to learning.

Find a quiet, well-lit spot where you can sit comfortably with your children. Sometimes, you pick the books to read. Other times, let the children pick out books (even if it’s the same ones over and over).

Children love stories! Whether you read a story or tell a story of your own, children are learning how to imagine-and how words communicate ideas. The most important thing you can do as you share a story with your children is to make it an enjoyable experience for all.
