Adult Learning Centre News November 2005

WRITERS CORNER

We have a treat this month, one of the students from the Adult Learning Centre in Ear Falls, Heather Gamble, has written a poem and entered it to the “Poetry Institute of Canada”. They called to tell her that she made it to the finals and it will be published in the book, “Island Dream”. Needless to say, she is very excited and is very anxious to find out if she will win or not. Heather has been a student in Ear Falls since the Spring and is attempting to get her GED It is a beautiful poem and she has given her permission for us to share it with you. Our warmest congratulations go out to Heather for such a beautiful poem and keep up the good work.

Empty Space

As night slips over me
I miss you more
In daylight I can surround myself
With things, jobs or people
But in the still quiet that is night
Memories haunt me
Or I turn to tell you something
But all I see is an empty space

Where you should be.
I talk to friends or Kit but it’s not the same
I can’t share what’s been going on
Or laugh about the stupid things people do
My Star Wars pal is gone and I can’t share
That final piece of the puzzle
I bought the soundtrack but it’s bittersweet
You’re not here to enjoy it with me.

Tears fall, the loneliness creeps into my soul
My best friend is lost to me, taken on her next journey
And I can’t follow you to that place
I know you’re okay, no pain haunts your steps now
But now I must walk alone taking my first steps
In my new journey into womanhood

SIMPLY ACCOUNTING COURSE

Our Simply Accounting Course will start on November 7th and it booked up very quickly. We have had more people sign up to a waiting list, so it will probably be taught again in the Spring. Anyone interested in taking any of the computer courses should call us with their needs so that we can plan on more courses. Call 727-3027 and get your name on the waiting list and we will call you as soon as that course becomes available.

Tact is rubbing out another's mistake instead of rubbing it in.
