On-line Meetings: The BEST way to get & share information.

Taken from: TechCorner, by Maret Kapp, Information Resource Officer, AlphaCom

AlphaCom is the on-line meeting place where you can get information and interact on topics of interest. You can post messages, pictures and files that others can read and reflect on. It is a wonderful opportunity to keep your finger on the pulse of what is happening in the Network and LBS field.

To get started, go to the AlphaPlus website at http://alphaplus.ca and click on AlphaCom on the left menu. Then click on AlphaCom discussion. First time users click on Register, and follow the instructions. The discussion page for the Simcoe/ Muskoka Literacy Network is located under the English Private menu.

For complete instructions, please contact the Network office at simcoe.muskoka@rogers.com

Remember, this is our own, private meeting place. Attend on-line meetings often—you’ll be glad you did! Oh, and you’ll need to bring your own coffee!

Did you know...

Two trucks loaded with a thousand copies of Roget’s Thesaurus collided as they left a New York publishing house last Thursday, according to the Associated Press. Witnesses were stunned, startled, aghast, taken aback and stupefied.

  • Community-based practioners from the Simcoe & Muskoka region are invited to participate in a focus group with CLO. Time commitment is 1-hour this spring & 1-hour in the fall.

  • It’s time to submit your ideas for the 2003-2004 Field Development Priorities. Watch for further details & submission forms on the SMLN AlphaCom discussion page.

  • The Network has old computers & assorted parts to give away.

  • Made possible by a Trillium grant, the Road to Reading Festival will be coming to Barrie this September! Event Coordinator, Michele Newton and Marketing Assistant Charlotte Lavimodiere have both been hired and have offices at the Network.

  • MTCU has requested a full proposal for our Partnership Outreach Program . Keep your fingers crossed!

  • Not on our direct email list? Let us know your email address, and we’ll be happy to keep you informed!
