Spring is in the Air!
spring image

Everywhere you look there are signs of Spring. The colours are all there. Life is being reborn. There is a renaissance (a rebirth) taking place at Salmonier.

At 4:45 p.m. on March 20, 1998 the season called Spring officially began. With it came longer days, warm evenings and rain (let's not forget the drizzle and fog).

Perhaps the best indicator that winter is over are the sights and sounds of birds. Birds that migrated South for the winter are slowly but surely returning. At the time of this article twelve (12) Canadian Geese have returned to Salmonier. These large water fowl will spend the remainder of Spring and the Summer nesting and raising their young goslings in the ponds around the Salmonier Correctional Institution.

Besides geese there are ducks, jays, chickadees and robins all returning to enjoy the security of the peaceful natural surroundings that are here at Salmonier.
