Thank You Very Much.

The Education Centre at the Salmonier Correctional Institution recently received several large donations worth mentioning.

We would like to thank Educational Planning and Design Associates for their donation of two new mice for our computers. These mice have been installed and are getting much use.

We would also like to thank Dicks and Company Limited for their donation of two packages of 3 ½ floppy disks, three oil artist brushes and several packages of writing pens.

We want to acknowledge the contribution of eight 486 computers to Salmonier from the City of St. John's. Thank you Mr. John Ridgley.

What's happening.

Mr. Leyte will be taking a few days off during Christmas and the school will reopen upon his return. A notice will be posted which will outline the days the school will be closed.

In early January inmates will be able to enroll in an introduction computer course. If you would like to learn how to use a computer this course is for you.

In January some inmates will be studying for the GED exams which will be written in April. If you are interested in joining this class, please see Mr. Leyte. We will be meeting on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7 - 9 pm and on one afternoon during the week for about three months.

Recently several inmates at Salmonier wrote the GED exams. We wish them well and hope that they all pass. We note, as well, that six inmates completed a computer course and will be receiving completion certificates

If you would like to help with the school
