Family Literacy Day This is a different article then the ones that I have written in the past two issues. This one is with regards to Family Literacy Day which is January 27th. What this means is that we as parents, as well as others, should be concerned about the well being of the children in today's society. We all know that a great deal of the younger generation quit school at a very young age and, based on my own experience, it is a very easy way for them to get into a life of crime. I think that we as parents should spend as much time with our children as is possible. We all know that this is not the case these days and this is most unfortunate because our children need as much education from our family members as they need to get from their teachers in school. The problem today is that the children do not have to use their brains as we did in the last generation. Nowadays there are so many other options for the younger people to use such as calculators and computers. Of course those things make life a little easier but it doesn't make people as in tune to what their full potential is or what they are capable of doing. I want you to believe me because I know. I went through all those scenarios over the past 25 years and unless I had taken the time to reeducate myself I would be a lot worse today. So, take a few minutes out of every day and spend it trying to teach someone something new and maybe you'll learn something yourself. We can never learn enough, there is always something new every day and we just have to take the time to learn it. Most important are the children of today because as we all know, there are a lot of things happening inside our schools that never use to happen years ago. All this is quite scary to a lot of parents but how do they deal with it? Well, I think that we have to spend a lot more time with our children and less time worrying about things that we cannot change. Everyone has their own choice to make and if they choose to follow the proper path then they will most likely end up with a happy life and a family that will respect them. These days, that is the best that a person can hope for. Anyway, that is about all there is to say. Think about it because we are the role models that most children grow up to be like. I guess the only thing to really do is to teach someone something and try to learn something in the process. It will be all worth it in the end and maybe someday someone will come and shake your hand and thank you for what you did in their life. Wouldn't that be a great feeling to know that you made a difference in another persons life? That would be a pleasant reward to be proud of. Written By: |
