What is time? Yesterday seems more like today and tomorrow will be more like any other day. However, time goes by in a matter of seconds and minutes and then by the hour. It seems that we do nothing but complain about things. We don't do enough to keep our minds in focus - to know where we are. All we do is think about how are we are going to get our next fix or where and when we are going to get the next pay check. We wonder how many hours there are left and what time it is. We worry a lot and yet, we don't have enough time for our children, our brothers, sisters and family. Next thing we know our loved ones are gone. Then, all of a sudden, we care as if a big gush of wind hit us. Now we know who they are and suddenly we miss them. We care about them all of a sudden. We tend to forget to care about ourselves and our love ones. It's easy to become addicted to hard drugs and alcohol. It's easier to pick them up then it is to put down. We let drugs and alcohol control us but we can't control them. It's too good to let go because we like it too much. We like the way that drugs and alcohol make us feel, even though it's embarrassing and it makes you feel very guilty. Becoming sober and "clean from drugs" can be frustrating. I know this from my own experience. I have been there and done that and everything else. We know that it is wrong to try to harm yourself and others by doing stupid things but we do it anyway. Doing too much drugs and drinking large amounts of alcohol can cause a lot of pain and hurt to our families and communities. |
