From the Editor's Desk Dear Editor: Given the fact that we are now at the midpoint of spring and summer, one can feel a sense of tranquillity around us. June being a month for travel, final exams, and, of course, a time which brings closure to the physical school year, it is easy to become overpowered with emotion. But one important event that this month gives honour to is Father's Day. On June 21, we show our love and joy for those who give us life, care for us and the individuals who act as a model father role in our lives. So on this special day give a call, send a card or just meditate on your golden memories. I will not be make-belief and throw roses everywhere, for I feel confident in saying some of our memories may not be of a happy nature. This does not mean that you have to exempt yourself from the celebrations of this day, for always remember the spiritual side and give praise to our Creator- God The Father. Darwin M Dear Readers: Darwin's words are very true. Yes, we must pay tribute to our fathers and celebrate Father's Day on June 21st. And just as Darwin has pointed out, we must not kid ourselves; not all of us have fond memories of our fathers(parents) and likewise our childhood. For some, there was no Dad. Many people are able, however, to look back onto their child hood and find someone, if not their father, who they looked up to and who, in a way, took care of them. The role of father for many people is often played by an uncle, an older brother, a grandfather or a close male friend or neighbour of the family. If the role of father (maybe Dad) was played by someone else other than your real (biological) father celebrate Father's Day with thoughts of that person.
