Not to many years ago when you hoped to get a date with a beautiful lady, you asked her for her telephone number. And ho, how you glowed when she did. Often, she would pen, perhaps in lipstick, her number across the back of a small piece of paper. Well, guess what? The rules have changed. The times have changed.

The ladies do not simply give away their telephone numbers anymore. My man...you have to go with the times. If you do not become electronically smart, you will be considered a dating dinosaur. There will be no dates for you with the ladies.

The most commonly overheard piece of conversation in clubs and singles bars these days is "...so, do you have an Email address? I would love to leave you a message. You could even Email me back. I'm at handsomeharry@sci.nf.ca and more often then not you will find single men rushing home from work to check their computer just to see if "You Got Mail."

...Perhaps we are taking this computer thing a bit too far, especially, when we allow a microprocessor to control our personal lives. Perhaps, we need to refocus; get a grip. We need to think about where we are going with this computer technology and then, to rethink where exactly we want it to go.

Do you know that there are some people who spend more time with their computer than they do with their partner? People sit for hours browsing the Internet and surfing the world wide web. While they do this, their partners sit alone passing the time away and thinking about their relationships. Some, when they can take no more, go out to find the company and companionship they need elsewhere.

It is time to turn off that square box with the white light. It is time we were turned back on to the relationships we have with our partners.

I like computers but I do not allow it to control my life. And, for me, there exists no comparison between Email and female. I'll take the female anytime.
