7 GARRISON HILL Howard House is a Community Residential Center or halfway house to assist offender with a gradual release back to the community. How do you apply? Howard House accepts referrals from Correctional Service Canada and the Provincial Department of Justice. You can reside with us on day parole, full parole, statutory release, a federal UTA, a provincial TA, or a probation order. If you are interested in our program you can talk to your Parole Officer, Classification Officer or Probation Officer. They will then refer your name to the House Director and the Admissions Committee. The House Director will review your file and present the information to the Admissions Committee which meets every two weeks. The Committee makes a decision based on your needs and whether Howard House can accommodate these. What do we offer? Individual counseling will be provided for all residents who enter the program. Referrals can be made for substance abuse treatment, family violence, parenting, the John Howard Society C-Step Program as well as services to address education and employment. The length of each program varies, and depends on the resident's needs. Expectations: While residing at Howard House you will be expected to abide by all conditions of your release in addition to the rules of Howard House. You will also be expected to take an active role in planning your release to the community. For more information contact Cindy Murphy, House Director at 722-2351 or write to 7 Garrison Hill, St. John's, NF., A1C 3Y7. |
