6 Time on The Line November 15, 1997

If You Wonder Why We Cry

If you wonder why we cry
On November the 11th, an ordinary day,
It is because our thoughts have drifted
To a battle field far away.

I ask for your attention while I relate
The horror of an event that grieves this heart of mine.
I will praise both man and woman who fought for freedom
In an age before my time.

For every generation
It will be an event that cannot be forgot,
For others gave up their lives so we might live.
A freedom that's ours to give.

The love from these soldiers is a blessing so disguised,
For it was in bloodshed battle
That our nation won a unified peace,
Became free - a gift to those still alive.

Their memory is kept in the living
And shared in the freedom they were giving,
Those soldiers will never be for forgot.
Soldiers who shall be praised in everlasting thought.
