This study has been a long and evolving process. My friends and family have tolerated, sustained and advised me through the many months, for which I am grateful. In particular, I would like to thank my partner and faithful editor, Chris Fox, who has not only tolerated the endeavour, but has encouraged me, supported me, and helped me to clarify my thoughts as the study took shape.

I also extend my appreciation to the institution, the staff and the students of Main College. The generosity and acceptance of the teachers and the students in the study classroom was humbling, and their interest and belief in the research was inspiring. I especially want to thank Kit who gave me so much of her time and from whom I learned so much.
