On October 30th 2002, a " Forging Links " Summit event was held in Moncton, New Brunswick. The focus was on the voluntary sector and the potential for forming provincial, regional and local coalitions. Over 58 participants, representing a number of geographical, linguistic and sub sectors were in attendance.

The process used for this event was a participative / consultative approach, reflecting the need to initiate dialogue and to begin a longer-term process of collaboration and consultation.
