Something to Think About - Please Think About This: Report on a National Study of Access to Adult Basic Education Programs and Services in Canada is the final report on a study undertaken in January 1996 by the Ottawa Board of Education (now the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board) under the direction of Joyce White, Manager of ABE/ESL programs. The study was funded by the National Program of the National Literacy Secretariat, Human Resources Development Canada. Something to Think About was written by Susan Hoddinott, principal researcher for the national study. The author wishes to thank Joyce White, Director of the study, for her invaluable contribution to all aspects of the research design and implementation, and the preparation of the final report. The title of this report is taken from a composition by a student at one of the four local research sites which participated in the national study. The full title of the composition is Why I think its important for programs like this to exist: Something to think about - Please think about this. The composition is presented in full in an Afterword to this report. |
