CLO's Lifelong Learning for Literacy Practitioners

Introduction

What Will I Find on this Website?

Practitioner Tools

Self-Assessment Tool

The LLLP website also contains a Lifelong Learning Self-Assessment Tool. Whether you are currently working or planning to work in the literacy field, you are new to the job or you have years of experience, this Lifelong Learning Self-Assessment Tool will be useful in planning your professional development training. Every professional needs to take time out of their busy day to reflect on the skills they already have, identify their skill gaps and develop a personal plan for future training.

CLO's online user-friendly Lifelong Learning Self-Assessment Tool will allow you to map out your professional development based on your specific training needs. It will enable you to make decisions around where, how and when you will access the training you need.

Personal Learning Plan

The Lifelong Learning Self-Assessment Tool will generate your own personal learning plan. The personal learning plan takes the data you have entered into the Lifelong Learning Self-Assessment Tool and converts it to an individualized plan. The Training Plan directs you to information on training opportunities listed in the Training Opportunities of the LLLP website. You are also able to note prior learning and training so that your personal learning plan becomes a record of learning that you have accessed in the past and that you plan to access in the future.

Training Opportunities

In this module, the LLLP website assembles and provides an overview of various training opportunities, including online training, face-to-face training, Web 2.0 opportunities, printed materials and sources for information on training events. The listed training opportunities are provided by a numerous of sources, including literacy networks, community organizations, not-for-profit organizations, colleges and universities. Each link or reference includes a brief description that will allow you to decide whether or not it is a training opportunity you would like to access.

Resources

This section of Community Literacy of Ontario's LLLP website contains a list of lifelong learning resources for literacy practitioners in Ontario. Where possible, these resources are accessible online. Each resource is listed with a brief description that will allow you to quickly decide whether or not it is information that you need to access.
