CLO's Lifelong Learning for Literacy Practitioners

Required Education and Experience

Laubach Literacy Ontario

Laubach Literacy Ontario (LLO), incorporated in 1981, is a provincial association that provides training to volunteer tutors based on a national certification system. LLO represents a network of community-based literacy programs that support the “Each One Teach One” philosophy of peer tutoring. All Laubach volunteers are required to take the Basic Tutor Training Workshop delivered by certified Laubach trainers. The basic workshop is designed to prepare volunteers to tutor an English-speaking non-reader on a one-to-one basis. Volunteer tutors are recruited and screened by local Laubach councils before being matched with adult literacy students.
