CLO's Lifelong Learning for Literacy Practitioners

Training Opportunities

Skills-Specific Training

Knowing where to find training is important. However, many practitioners are looking for specific kinds of training that are specific to certain skills or skill-sets. This section of Community Literacy of Ontario's Lifelong Learning for Literacy Practitioners website lists some of the training opportunities available to those who wish to enhance their skills and knowledge in the specific areas of core skills and emergent skills identified in the Core Skills module and reflected in the Self-Assessment Tool.

The following specific skill areas have been identified integral to literacy practice in Ontario:

  • Adult Learning and Learner
  • Teaching Methods and Strategies
  • Learner Assessment and Referral
  • Effective Communication Strategies
  • Program Development and Administration
  • Continuous Improvement Performance Management System (CIPMS)
  • Employment Ontario
  • Essential Skills
  • Using Technology
  • Other Training Opportunities

Each training opportunity includes a brief description to help you decide if it is suitable for your needs. If you are uncertain about which training is right for you, click on the LLLP Self-Assessment Tool to help you determine which training you should access first.

In most sections, we have listed provincial training opportunities, then national training opportunities, then international training opportunities, listing them in alphabetical order within their geographical groupings.

As mentioned before, this list is only a sampling and it is not meant to be comprehensive. Talk to your peers and conduct online research to discover the wide range of training opportunities that are available to you.
