About Community Literacy of Ontario's “Essentially Yours: Training in the Essential Skills” Project

In September 2007, Community Literacy of Ontario commenced work on “Essentially Yours: Training in the Essential Skills”. This project was funded by the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities to increase knowledge and awareness of the Essential Skills in Ontario's LBS programs.

Throughout the course of this project:

  • CLO researched, wrote and circulated three bulletins on the Essential Skills. These bulletins were distributed to Anglophone community literacy agencies in Ontario. The bulletins are also freely available on our website (under newsletters) at: www.nald.ca/clo
  • CLO delivered two live, online training workshops via Centra Symposium on April 10 and April 22, 2008. A total of 44 participants registered for these workshops.
  • CLO created this self-directed training module on strategic planning on our Literacy Basics training website (www.nald.ca/literacybasics). It was launched in April 2008.

Community Literacy of Ontario gratefully acknowledges the valuable support of the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities for funding this project.
