ACFE
A network of over 520 learning centres and neighbourhood houses run
by locally elected committees of management. They offer a great range
of courses, including business and technical skills, literacy and
English language
courses, access and tertiary preparation courses such as return to
study or the VCE, and general adult education such as personal growth classes
like assertiveness and yoga,
and cultural classes like languages and art.

Adult Learning Australia Inc (ALA) is the peak organisation for adult
and community education providers and others interested in adult learning.

The Australian Council of Adult Literacy
The Australian Council for Adult Literacy Inc was established in 1977
to promote issues regarding Adult literacy and numeracy policy and practice.
Australian Literacy Educators' Association
This Association is dedicated to the improvement of literacy development
and language learning at all levels. It provides support and professional
development to educators and others interested in literacy through conferences,
workshops and seminars, journals, position papers and other publications.
Board of Studies New South Wales Australia
The Board of Studies NSW was established in 1990 to serve government
and non-government schools in the development of school education for Years
K-12. It provides educational leadership by developing quality curriculum
and awarding secondary school credentials, the School Certificate and the
Higher School Certificate.
Carlton Adult Reading and Writing Program
Calton Adult Reading and Writing Program started out as a community
group providing a one-to-one literacy program. We have grown a lot since
then, and while the main focus continues to be on adult literacy, we now
provide ESL and various other courses, such as literacy for English speakers,
Special Needs classes, Numeracy and Computers.

National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER)
This site points to the NCVER Adult Literacy and Numeracy Research
Program Funded by the Department of Education Science and Training. The
aim of this program is to provide funding for research that contributes
to improved policy development and practice in adult literacy. A range
of publications are available.
New Learning Technologies in Language Classrooms
This is a professional development project involving a mentoring model
which introduces Adult Literacy and ESL teachers to New Learning technologies
and supports them in implementing NLT into the language classroom. It uses
an action research model with teachers keeping journals and meeting regularly
for training and support.
Read Write Now!
Read Write Now! is a dynamic, community based volunteer organisation
that has operated in Western Australia since 1977. The Program's 1000 volunteer
tutors provide one-to-one assistance to adults wanting to improve skills
in reading, writing, spelling and sometimes basic maths.
The Reading Writing Hotline
The Reading Writing Hotline is Australia’s national telephone adult literacy and numeracy referral service. In addition to providing information on how to become a literacy volunteer, the hotline has information on reading and writing classes, correspondence courses, English as a second language programs and literacy in the workplace.

The Technical and Further Education (TAFE) Commission provides vocational education and training in the southern hemisphere. This website provides course and career information and also serves as a valuable resource for workers, employers, industry organizations, workplace trainers and researchers.
The Victorian Adult Literacy and Basic Education Council (VALBEC)
The Victorian Adult Literacy Basic Education Council (VALBEC) is the
peak body for the adult literacy field in Victoria. It was established
in 1978, following the formation of ACAL (Australian Council for Adult
Literacy).
