Canadian Centre for Research on Literacy
The goals of the CCRL include: conducting basic and applied research
on literacy; achieving national and international status as a Canadian
Centre for Research on Literacy; building partnerships with agencies and
groups in accord with the fulfillment of the goals of the Centre, etc.
Canadian Language and Literacy Research Network
This organisation is dedicated to bringing together scientists, clinicians
and the literacy and language communities to address a targeted need for
Canadian research in Early Childhood Development. The Network organizes
Canadian researchers from various disciplines studying early language,
communication, and literacy development.
Canadian Literacy Thesaurus
The Canadian Literacy Thesaurus/Thésaurus canadien d'alphabétisation
is a bilingual list of standardized vocabulary in the area of adult literacy.
Developed in consultation with the Canadian literacy community, both the
terminology and structure of the thesaurus reflect the diversity of regional
literacy practices and activities across Canada.
Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) - Literacy and Clear Language
CUPE is Canada's largest union, with more than half a million members
across Canada. It has long supported literacy work, both directly through
local unions, provincial divisions and national office, as well as through
provincial federations of labour and the Canadian Labour Congress.
Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada (CEP) - Literacy
Project
CEP has funding from the National Literacy Secretariat for the development
of a CEP National Literacy Program. Literacy is a union issue because it
affects the lives and opportunities of all workers, off the job as well
as on the job.
Connecting the Dots: Improving Accountability in the Adult Literacy Field in Canada
This project will conduct literature and field reviews that link theory with practice; engage providers and funders in regional collaborative action-research projects to develop innovative models of reciprocal accountability. It will also use a two-way communication model to disseminate findings and invite continuous input as a way to share knowledge and build broad support and buy-in.
