Brian broke his record!

Brian O'Rooney completed the Great Walk (63.5 K from Gold River to Tahsis) on Saturday June 2nd in 7 hours and 55 minutes. He finished 25th in a field of 284. This is the 5th time Brian has completed this walk. He managed to raise $1,677.50 for Literacy Central VI programs.

BEAMS & BEARS

Another school year is coming to a close. We would like to take this opportunity to thank the 52 BEARS volunteers who worked in 30 schools during the past school year.

These volunteers work under the supervision of a teacher and act as reading buddies or assist with math. Some children need a little extra one-to-one and these volunteers are happy to provide it.

Thanks again for their efforts.

Computer Recycling

102 computers were donated to families last year. The computers are donated from the community. Our two volunteers, Frank Hughes and Frank Marsden, clean them up, load them with Windows 2000 and Works 7 (we are a licensed Microsoft refurbisher) and some spelling games. They are then donated to families through the elementary schools and community organizations.
