Another year has
come and gone!
LLNB Annual General Meeting
 he 2000
Annual General Meeting was held in Fredericton in October. The
conference was well attended and participants claim this was the best
one yet! Many informative workshops were held for students and tutors alike.
The highlight of the conference was the banquet during which a Roast was held
to bid farewell to longtime LLNB President Peter Sawyer. Many old friends Peter
had made during his time with LLNB made a special trip to Fredericton to help
with the festivities. A wonderful caricature which captured Peter's personality
beautifully was presented to him as a thank you from LLNB.
A
new Executive was installed at the AGM and you can find the names of the new
members, and the position they hold, at the end of this newsletter.
I would like to offer abig
thank you, on behalf of all members of LLNB,
to Ellen Cogswell, the Conference Coordinator, and her wonderful Conference
Planning Committee from the Fredericton Literacy Council. You worked hard, and
it showed. Our hats are off to you all!
Win a trip to PEI!!!
ur Student Representative, Yvonne Westall, has come up
with a wonderful idea to help bring a student and his or her tutor to the
Atlantic Regional Conference being held in May on Prince Edward Island. On the
last page of this newsletter there will be a Word Search Puzzle which will
contain words that are underlined throughout this issue of The Bulletin.
Tutors are asked to work on this puzzle with their student and once the puzzle
is complete to mail it to The Bulletin. We will then take all of the correct
entries and make a draw for an all expense paid trip to the conference for one
lucky student and tutor. The puzzle must be completed as a team effort between
the student and his or her tutor.
