In this module, Community Literacy of Ontario explores the processes and activities involved in assessing adult literacy students in Ontario, both at initial intake and while they are active in the program. The module provides useful background information as well as assessment guidelines and sample tools. It is also chock-full of links to handy web-based resources.

This module introduces the concept of performance management to the literacy field and explains how this important organizational concept is being used worldwide by both the private and public sectors. It introduces the Literacy and Basics Skills’ Continuous Improvement Performance Management System (CIPMS) and provides a number of tools and resources to help literacy agencies implement this process, including the Ministry of Training, College and Universities Agency Assessment Process.
