Upcoming tutor training sessions for those who are interested
in working with adult learners

Spring 2013 (date to be determined)

Those interested are encouraged to contact
Anne Ritzmann at 705-527-1522 or artizmann@csolve.net.

MARC has a group of volunteer tutors who are trained in the Laubach method of teaching literacy. Our volunteers come to us from all areas of our community. They are not trained teachers, but are interested people who like reading, and want to give something back to their community. They take a short tutor-training course (there is a fee of $15) which is offered two times a year. The course introduces them to the Laubach tutoring techniques and various other materials. They learn to plan lessons and to help adult learners set goals.

Tutor Support Meetings – a great venue for sharing experiences, lesson plans and problem solving. The meetings are also a good opportunity to network and may include guest speakers.

If you don’t feel that tutoring is for you, there are other ways to help, including volunteering in the office, special events, fundraising or committee work.

The MARC Computer Committee is looking for new members. Do you know someone who specializes in, has an interest in or wants to learn about technology? Please tell them about us … we have a computer lab and some exciting plans. Membership is open to anyone in the community. We meet every other month at the MARC office.

For further information on volunteer opportunities, please call 705-527-1522 or email marc@csolve.net.

We could not exist without our dedicated volunteers and
tutors. The Midland Area Reading Council is grateful to
each and every one of these individuals.
Thank you for caring.
