What programs do we offer?

Our office contains a wealth of materials, both Laubach-based and other teaching tools. They can be bought or borrowed by students, tutors or the general public. These materials help students learn skills, including spelling, math, writing and reading. We also have a computer lab available, with many learning programs and provide our students with high-speed internet access. We use anything and everything that works in teaching literacy!

Although most of our students have an individual tutor, we also offer group learning situations and outreach services to expand our group work. MARC services the area between Port Severn, Elmvale and Christian Island. If you cannot make it to our offices in Midland, our outreach program may be available in your area.

Computers:

This is an open drop-in class in our computer lab to practice reading, writing or math using one of several learning programs. An instructor is on site to help with any problems.

Mondays:   9:00AM – Noon

Open Class:

Join us for a customized review and reinforcement of your Reading, Writing and Math skills. Adults involved in ILP’s (Independent Learning Plans) or other programs can receive assistance with homework. For students who are already matched with a tutor or for those waiting to be matched with a tutor this is a great way to get learning!

Certification Preparation:

• Ontario Drivers G1 License
• WHMIS
• Smart Serve
• First Aid/CPR
• Pleasure Craft Card

Ready For Work:

Customized workshops where students will receive individual assistance to determine their employment skill set, create or update a resume, properly complete a job application and prepare for job interviews.

MARC serves the following catchment area: Honey Harbour to Port Severn to Coldwater to Hillsdale to Elmvale to Christian Island, including all of Tiny and Tay Townships and Midland and Penetanguishene.
