Bow Valley College to launch the ESL Literacy Network

CALGARY — Bow Valley College (BVC) will launch a new teaching resource on March 31 that will provide Alberta’s English as a Second Language (ESL) literacy educators with comprehensive instructional materials and opportunities for professional development.

Join the Honourable Thomas Lukaszuk, Minister of Alberta Employment and Immigration, project funder, and Isabel Gibbins, Dean of ESL and Languages at BVC, as they celebrate the launch of the ESL Literacy Network, a web-based professional development tool created by and for ESL literacy educators.

“Increased literacy equals a more successful Alberta,” says Gibbins. “An incredible return on investment, ESL literacy provides a competitive edge for business and stronger, safer, more engaged communities. The ESL Literacy Network is an innovative website that brings together tools and resources to enrich the teaching and learning experience.”

ESL literacy educators and students will be on hand. Interviews can be arranged at or following the event.
