Canadian Literacy and Learning Network (CLLN) seeking applicants for volunteer board position

Wanted: Volunteer Board Members

Canadian Literacy and Learning Network (CLLN) is the national hub for research, information and knowledge exchange, increasing literacies and essential skills across Canada. A non-profit charitable organization, CLLN represents literacy coalitions, organizations and individuals in every province and territory in Canada.

Over the past few years CLLN has undergone a number of changes. One of the most recent changes has been the transition from a representational board to a skills-based board. We are now currently seeking applicants for one of 10 board positions.

Some of the skills we are looking for include:  strategy development; risk management; networking/partnership development; funding diversification/entrepreneurial; financial analysis; marketing/brand development/communications; and public policy/government relations.

Our process for selecting new board members includes a review of completed application forms (by an independent consultant), followed by the selection of individuals for interviews. Once the interview process has been completed we will then invite successful candidates to join the board. We are asking for a one to three-year commitment starting in February 2013.

If you have skills that you want to contribute to the organization, you’ll find the application form at: http://www.literacy.ca/about/board-nominations/.

While there, take a look around to see the type of work we’ve been engaged in in recent months. You’ll also find copies of our annual reports and a list of our current board and staff members.

The closing date for applications is 5 p.m. EST, Monday, December 17, 2012.

Please email your completed application to cllnboardapp@gmail.com. You can also mail the paper copy to the office located at 342A Elgin St, Ottawa, ON, K2P 1M6.
