A new web-based portal will help students transfer their academic credits between universities and colleges based in New Brunswick. The provincial government launched the New Brunswick Credit Transfer Portal on March 15.

WorldSkills is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to promote excellence in skilled trades and technologies, share best practices and promote public policy to support advancement of trades and technology.

Agencies will be required to keep full records of their recruiting activities and register their agents with the Government of Alberta. These changes will assist in the investigation and prosecution of companies that exploit vulnerable workers.

Compared to 12 months earlier, employment in Canada was up by 121,000 (+0.7%), with the bulk of the increase occurring in the first half of the period, according to the new Labour Force Survey results from Statistics Canada.

Distance education allows students to learn at their own speed, at a time and place that is convenient to them. This distance learning program was launched in Little Burgundy three years ago by Desta, a non-profit organization that helps marginalized young adults primarily from Montreal’s black community.

“Change is everywhere in today’s workplace,” says Bill Stirling, CEO of the National Adult Literacy Database. “New technologies, global competitors, new markets and changing standards or certifications mean that workers today are constantly dealing with change. They have to be continuous learners and problem solvers.”

The report examines the number of NALD Library documents, in both English and French, which are viewed and downloaded by visitors to the websites NALD and BDAA.

The funding from the Department of Labour and Advanced Education will help provide trade and industry-specific training for about 400 people and lead to employment for about 200 Mi'kmaq in seven First Nations communities.
