Inside the labour market downturn: October 2008 - October 2010

Statistics Canada is reporting that employment in our country rebounded more quickly from the recent economic downturn than it did in the recessions of the early 1980s and early 1990s.

One in five workers is late to the office at least once a week

Workers shared a variety of reasons for being tardy, such as lack of sleep (24 per cent) and traffic (24 per cent). Fifteen per cent blamed public transportation for their tardiness, while 12 per cent indicated bad weather delayed them. Other common reasons included getting children to school or daycare, Internet use or their spouse.
