The Acadia Lifelong Learning Centre will again celebrate UNESCO’s International Adult Learners’ Week with a special event for people aged 50+ on Wednesday, April 6,at the Fountain Learning Commons, Acadia University, beginning at 7 p.m.

Michael King is one of 19 poets featured in Shadows in the Streets, a collection of 24 poems published by the Learning Centre Literacy Association jointly with Boyle Street Community Services. The book features poetry written by people who have lived on the streets, or still do.
About 50 people attended the Never Ending Learning Conference Saturday in northeast Edmonton, an event organized by adult literacy students with The Learning Centre Literacy Association.

What boomers have to offer are their networks – who they know. Through a boomer, entrepreneurs with a project or invention might find an angel investor. Their knowledge, experience and connections can be a continuing resource for organizations.
Among the many activities during the week is the 1001 Ways to Learn challenge. Entrants simply have to describe their learning experiences either in written or video form.
The Northwest Territories Literacy Council is grateful to the adult learners who submitted their stories for publication online.
Through the learner area of its website, CLLN strives to strengthen the voice of learners across Canada. Complete with an audio component, the learner area features learner profiles, an interactive election feature and tips for writing letters.
This year, during IALW, the Ontario Literacy Coalition will focus particular attention on access, participation and inclusion, as well as on innovative policies to help improve adult learning programs to meet everyone’s needs.
