Thriller proves to be Giller winner for Calgary author Will Ferguson

Calgary author Will Ferguson has won the Scotiabank Giller Prize for his globe-trotting thriller novel entitled 419. While 419 will probably be viewed as Ferguson’s arrival as a “literary fiction” author, he says he doesn’t plan to alter his modus operandi as a writer. His next offering will be a travel book about Rwanda.

Despite evidence that learning can have a positive impact on everyone's lives, it is a concern to NIACE that many older people are missing out on the benefits of learning. The latest figures from NIACE's 2012 Adult Participation in Learning Survey show that only 16 per cent of those aged 65-74 and seven per cent of those aged 75+ regard themselves as learners.
