NALD is pleased to announce that Sioux-Hudson Literacy Council in Ontario has won the 2013 NALD Innovative Technology Award for its Good Learning Anywhere (GLA) Program. Now marking its 10th anniversary, GLA widely delivers learning curricula in a structured way through online learning platforms.

CUPE seeking submissions for 2013 Communications Awards

CUPE members from across the country put in countless hours producing newsletters and websites that keep their fellow members up-to-date. It’s important work, and CUPE’s Communications Awards are a great way to celebrate it. The deadline for 2013 submissions is July 29. Awards will be handed out at the CUPE National Convention in Quebec City, October 21 to 25.

PEI program to help francophone girls, young women gain leadership skills

The Elles pour LeadershIPE project will create initiatives for girls and young women aged 15 to 24 to identify and overcome barriers to leadership while developing their skills and confidence in such areas as facilitation, public presentation and debating.

Ontario collaborating with employers to improve opportunities for immigrants

Ontario is bringing together job creators from across the province to ensure that the skills of newcomers better match the needs of employers. As part of Ontario's Immigration Strategy, the Minister's Employers Table will partner with business leaders to help the province identify labour market needs. The province is also unveiling the Ontario Award for Leadership in Immigration Employment.

Six ways to improve your next meeting

This round of contributions will support programs focused on financial education and initiatives for seniors, women, newcomers, at-risk youth, women in conflict with the law, persons with disabilities, and Aboriginal people.

Top 20 PDF Downloads for April 2013

Each month NALD releases Library user statistics in a feature known as the Top 20 downloads/20 Plus téléchargés. The report examines the number of NALD Library documents, in both English and French, which are viewed and downloaded by visitors to the websites NALD and BDAA.
