Amazon.ca unveils list of most well-read cities in Canada

Amazon.ca for the first time has revealed its list of the Most Well-Read Cities in Canada. The company compiled sales data of all Amazon.ca book sales in print and Kindle formats since June 1, 2012, on a per capita basis in cities with more than 100,000 residents. Topping the list are Vancouver, Calgary, Saskatoon and Edmonton.

A new video, entitled "Your Guide to Understanding the Canadian Human Rights Act," provides information on human rights in American Sign Language (ASL), Québec Sign Language (LSQ), English and French captioning, and English and French voice-over. The video is available on the Canadian Human Rights Commission's website and the website of the Canadian Association of the Deaf.

Community Sector Council of Newfoundland and Labrador gets $19,492 grant

The Co-operators has announced a grant of $19,492 to the Community Sector Council of Newfoundland and Labrador. The funding will support the new Community Skills Cluster project, which helps people in rural communities gain self-reliance by matching their individual needs with helpful community resources. The funding comes from The Co-operators Community Economic Development Fund.

Adult Basic Education (ABE) program to be delivered at 14 new sites in N.L.

Following through on a commitment to help adult learners in every region advance their education in the most effective way possible, the Newfoundland and Labrador government provided details recently on the delivery of the provincial ABE program. A successful tendering process will now see 14 new sites delivering the program to adult learners in all communities where it had previously been provided by College of the North Atlantic.
