There are many adults in Richmond County who are
presently upgrading their educational skills in order to qualify for
entrance into Community College courses, University, Technical or Trades
programs. Many of these adults have experienced great challenges in
adjusting family commitments, travel and financial costs.
The Richmond County Literacy Network and the W.
Blair Memorial Trust have established Bursary Funds to provide bursaries
in the amount of $300.00 each to a qualifying adult learner residing in
Richmond County. Each year these bursaries will be awarded to assist
the recipients with tuition, travel costs, and books.
These bursaries are intended for adult learners
who, for a variety of reasons, did not complete Grade 12 while attending
the public school system and are presently attending or have been
accepted to a training/educational institution in Nova Scotia.
Applicants will be required to meet certain
selection criteria and submit an essay (minimum 250 words). For more
information or to request and application for these bursaries, please
contact:
Richmond County Literacy Network @ (902) 226-0383.
