Adult Learning classes are offered to any adult learner over 18 years of age who has been out of school for a year or more. When a person enters these classes, he or she is given an assessment to determine his or her level in each subject . Once the program has been completed, participants receive a Certificate of Participation. Anyone wishing to write the GED test and obtain a High School Diploma may do so at any time. (More information on GED testing can be found under Other Options.) Participants work at their own levels with encouragement and instruction provided by qualified instructors and volunteer tutors (when available). Whatever your educational level, the Richmond County Literacy Network hopes to help you continue your learning. There is no fee for registration or books; however, a positive attitude, good work ethic and regular class attendance are all highly recommended. Books are to be signed out by the participants and returned at the end of the program. Programs are offered on a continuous intake basis enabling a person to enroll at any time. Instruction may be individualized (one-on-one), small group or classroom-based. Programs Offered: 1. Level I—Equivalent to grades one to six. 2. Level II—Equivalent to grades seven and eight.
