| The Rabbittown Learners Program Inc. is a non-profit organization which opened it's doors 1988 and offers free tutoring in basic literacy to adults. Basic English and Math offered as well as a comprehensive life skills program which includes instruction in computers, money management, cooking and banking as well as self-esteem lectures, outings, tours and special events and much more. Mrs. Donna Murphy, a learner with the Rabittown Learners Program, recently won a literacy essay contest "Let There Be Words" offered by Chatelaine Magazine. Mrs. Murphy wrote about the impact on life of not being able to read and inspiring way she has turned her life around by enrolling in the Rabittown Learners Program Her submission was chosen as one of three grand prize winners from more than 700 entries and the only applicant which was chosen from Eastern Canada.. The Rabbittown Learners Program Inc. will celebrated Literacy Awareness Day Thursday, February 18, 1999. Also, on Saturday, February 20,1999 at Dominion on Cabot Place off Stavenger Drive from 12:00pm to 2:00pm the program provided an information booth where both students and staff were available to answer questions about this program.
