We are pleased to share with you the successes of our past year. These include a grant from Casino Rama for a Life Skills Workshop. This workshop is to take place on Wednesday December 12th. It is offered free to our Learners, so please encourage them to sign-up immediately. We made almost $4000 at our Annual Garage Sale! We have a new Administrator as Naomi is ‘retiring’. Shira Harrison McIntyre brings to the Council a solid business background, as well as instructional skills and fundraising capabilities. She is the recipient of the 2007 Entrepreneur of the Year Award from Nottawasaga Futures. Please note, computer tutors should ask their ‘Recreational’ computer participants to make a donation as the Council is mandated from the Ministry to provide our services to those who are seeking employment and who have Literacy challenges. Donation is PWYC (Pay What You Can). We have one past student who annually contributes $300. We will be closed on December 24th until January 2nd. We should be doing assessments on Learners every three months. Please ensure that you assist your Learners in reaching their goals by scheduling in time with Eva for these assessments. We will be suspending the Drop-in classes for the Ho Our Drop-in Program is still in effect Mondays to Thursdays 10am-1pm. If you need to cancel a meeting, please direct your Learner to this valuable service. This service can also be used for Learners who are keen to do more tutoring or work on a specific piece of work. |
