The following poem was written by Gwen, from Pointe-Claire in Quebec. Gwen is enrolled in literacy classes at Literacy Unlimited, in Pointe-Claire. Literacy Unlimited celebrated 30 years in 2011, and they offer many services, such as: One-On-One Tutoring, School Literacy Program, Computer Skills Training, Classroom Assistance and Tutor Training Workshops.

Cinquain

The cinquain poem has five lines and often doesn’t rhyme:

Line one is one word.
Line two is two words.
Line three is three words.
Line four is one word.

Hibiscus
Black gnomes
Plant green beans
Dirt in my hands
Garden

Cake
Grate coconut
Cream sugar with butter
Beat eggs with milk
Delicious
