July 9, 2012

The following story was written by by Evangeline Brown, from Halifax, Nova Scotia. Evangeline is enrolled in literacy classes at the Captain William Spry Library Adult Learning Program.

I Am A Volunteer

by Evangeline Brown

I get a big reward from volunteering. I help people that don’t have much. I am a good knitter, and I love to knit and crochet. I make afghans, which I donate, to the Mission for Seamen and nursing homes. I make hats and booties for the babies at the I.W.K. Hospital. I have made quilts for the seniors and my friends. My main goal is to learn to read and write.
