Story of the Week

February 3, 2003

The story we have this week was written by Heather Machin, from Hamilton, Ontario. Heather has participated in small group instruction for two years at the Hamilton and District Literacy Council. She currently attends study hall, where learners do self-directed study.

Lost

by Heather Machin

Lost in the world which way do I turn, which way do I go ?
So scared to go down the wrong path.
Please help me find my way to where I am going.
My heart feels empty. I am so scared to go the wrong way.
The tears in my eyes blind me so I cannot see.
I asked for help from God and all I could see is a light from the sky.
The lights show me the right way to go
I go down the path that lights the way and it leads me to a little town where people and horses were looking for someone that was missing.
They turn to ride off. I yelled, "Stop, I am here, don't leave me. I don't want to be left alone anymore."
The man stops on his horse and turns around to see me standing there.
He said, "I have found her the search is over."
