This poem was written by an individual from Newfoundland and Labrador, whose name was voluntarily withheld, and who is enrolled in literacy classes.
There's not much to be seen
just some old apartment building
and grass that isn't so green
I really miss my freedom.
There's not much to do
but just sit around day after day.
And dream sweet dreams of you
I really love you my darling.
This much you know is true.
and I hope when I get out jail
we can start again all new.
Just forget the bad times
and various problems that we had.
And try to focus on the good times
not times that made us sad.
So when I'm released from jail this time
all our problems will be through.
Then I'll put the past behind me
and do my time with you.
